a feast of Indian vegetables and spices

1-4-2014 Sat. very cold, sunny. 


WEEKEND BREAKFAST --- coffee | Chinese sweet rice dumpling soup | apple | grapefruit | bread and brie 
AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- tea |  Chinese tea snack 
 DINNER --- ( at Francesca's ) 


- Masala Vada (`meatball-like' dumplings done with split peas) , with Dhania Chutney ( mint and cilantro)
- Palak Moong Dal (beans and spinach soup in tomato sauce)
- Alu Methi (potatoes with fenugreek)
- Shokto (a Bengali recipe: bitter mellon and mixed vegetables in mustard sauce)
- Band Gobhi Chi Kosumbhri (cabbage salad with peanuts)
- Shahi Panir (Panir, an Indian cheese, in a cream tomatoes and spices)
- Biryani Rice and garlic bread 
- Dessert: Shrikand (creamy saffron yogurt)
