a progress of hot pot: clams, vegetables, eggs and baguette

In October there were yellow trees. then the clocks went back the hour and the long November winds came in and blew, and stripped the trees bare.  ---- the opening of "SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE" by Claire Keegan   

 




DINNERS --- simmered baby taro roots with herbs  | white bitter melon with king mushroom and tong-hao leaves | hot and sour threaded potato | Korean style broiled beef short ribs | table top hot pot:  manila clams, mountain yam noodle knots, tong-hao leaves, okra, beech mushroom, fresh sage leaves, poached egg, baguette for dipping | pasta with homemade sofrito sauce and radicchio | steamed egg custard | simmered eggplant with onion and fermented black bean sauce| stir-fried threaded daikon | rice | homemade puffy bread with dipping:  Greek yogurt with pomegranate seeds and mint, caramelized onion and tomato relish, sage butter
