Spanish goodies to carry home

  • the market San Miguel in Madrid caters more to cooked food and drink, a gigantic dinning hall.
  • a few special Spanish food items to carry home: sweet pimento, saffron, foie gras, smoked mussels, bomba rice for paella, and some dried vegetable roots smelled like truffle.

quirky Barcelona

local market food for picnic on balcony

  • joined the crowds at kiosko universal, simply grilled everything, lots of olive oil.
  • local supermarket has good selection of fresh food, and incredibly low price: a bottle of wine ( 2 euros) , 100g super quality cured ham ( 1.5 euros), baguette ( 0.5 euro), cheese ( 1 euro) , 1 kg grapes ( 1 euro). living like a Barcelonian with a good relaxed picnic on the balcony, watching a family having dinner on their balcony across from us.
