market by Midlife Crisis Farmers

9-07-2013 Sat. mild, sunny.  


WEEKEND BREAKFAST --- coffee | homemade bread |fruit salad
AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- blueberries 
DINNER --- ( cooked using food from the island market ) fresh Chanterelle  mushroom soup with fresh new garlic, fresh sage, toasted baguette and poached egg |  new potatoes sauteed with onion | sauteed Japanese eggplants with new garlic and cilantro | sauteed scarlet running beans | broiled coho salmon and Alaska black cod with fresh ginger and lemon | wine 

























 
  • splendid farmer's market, vegetables in rainbow colors and wide verities. bought a big  selection, part for a birthday dinner, part for carrying back to the east coast. 
  • Alaska black cod is excellent, super tender and sweet, but not as flaky as their Atlantic relatives.

Asian-inspired seafood pasta

8-13-2010 Fri. warm, cloudy


BREAKFAST --- coffee
LUNCH --- rice with stir-fried cabbage ( leftovers )
AFTERNOON-TEATIME
--- water melon | mojito
DINNER --- garlic bread | corn on the cob | pasta with roast red pepper sauce, cod, cucumber and mushroom | fennel salad | wine



  • not easy to make good seafood pasta here, fresh clams or sweet shrimp are hard to find. Alaska cod is pan-fried with bonito sauce and ginger flavored starch coating.

Cod from Alaska

8-10-2010 Tue. hot and muggy

BREAKFAST --- coffee
LUNCH --- rice and sauteed vegetables
AFTERNOON-TEATIME
--- raspberries
DINNER --- parboiled spinach and needle mushroom with sesame dressing | cod and new potato stew with roasted red pepper cream sauce | fennel salad | white wine

  • the cod is from Alaska, not Atlantic, flaky and tender.
