with apple and Norwegian goat cheese 

homemade Limpa: Swedish dark rye bread 

homemade baba ganoush

homemade pita bread 

lamb shank stew 
with daikon, mushroom, chickpeas and  tofu 

Lebanese eggplant relish 

 cod stew with potato and roasted red pepper

sauteed snow peas and beech mushroom

ramen with kimchi, pea leaves and mushroom

fried rice with egg and fresh soy beans 

vegetable soup with tofu puff 

roasted vegetables

fresh live small pink shrimp
rare find  and real treat 

poached with sake, fresh ginger and lime 
scale of a  sprig of rosemary '

hands on shelling,  paired with sake 
finished ... all shells and a empty bottle

A feast under the Midsummer maypole

DINNER --- ( at Thomas and Harry's cottage in Gnesta ) Jansson's temptation (scalloped potatoes,cream, onion and anchovies) | Swedish pickled herring and red onions | Swedish meat balls | sausage | smoked salmon | Swedish crisp bread || baked salmon with herbs | sour cream sauce | boiled potatoes | snaps | white wine || almond cream cake | coffee


a feast of Swedish traditional food

  • a family reunion after many years. A great effort in cooking was made by Thomas. Truly a great and authentic Midsummer feast.
  • the cottage sits near a lake in Gnesta, about one hour train ride from Stockholm, beautifully decorated. the garden has abundant flowers, fruit trees and berries.
