winter's delight

1-12-2011 Wed. cold, sunny.


BREAKFAST --- coffee
LUNCH --- rice with pork chop and Brussels sprouts (leftovers)
AFTERNOON-TEATIME
--- apple
DINNER --- pan-fried lotus root slices | clay pot of stewed wheat gluten, wood-ear, shiitake, winter bamboo shoots, shallots, and carrots | Chinese winter greens sauteed with garlic and fermented black beans | rice | wine



  • it is like " Buddha's delight" , the clay pot stew is our winter's delight

Clay pot for the early fall

9-27-2010 Mon. cool, rain.


BREAKFAST
--- coffee
LUNCH --- rice with ratatouille ( leftovers )
AFTERNOON-TEATIME
--- apple | green tea
DINNER --- black corn chips with guacamole | parboiled Chinese spinach | stir-fried snow peas | clay pot of wheat gluten, wood-ear, shiitake with tomato and onion sauce | rice | red wine

Slow food

2-11-2010 Thu. cold, windy, sunny

LATE-MORNING BREAKFAST --- coffee | homemade rustic bread | Pyrenees  sheep cheese | apple
AFTERNOON-TEATIME ---  green tea | sweetened lotus seeds 
DINNER --- wonton soup | stir-fried chive flowers and smoked tofu | clay pot of winter melon, ginkgo nuts, mushroom and braised beef shank | rice | red wine 


  • Clay pot  can be a symbol for slow food. Seasonal ingredients are gathered in one pot and simmered for hours over low heat.
