A steaming bowl of pho

2-01-2010 Mon. cold, sunny

BREAKFAST --- coffee | Pocky pretzel stick
LUNCH --- rice with braised lamb and carrots | clementine
AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- green tea | apple
DINNER --- avocado and tomato with lemon dressing | pan-fried spring rolls | Vietnamese rice noddles in spiced beef soup (Pho)

  • Pho is an excellent comfort food. In cold days nothing can warm you up faster than a big bowl of rich beef broth loaded with slippery noddles, tender beef slices, and fragrant Asian basil. The beef broth has been cooked for long hours in advance. Then the soup noddles can be done quickly in weekday evenings.
