duck confit and lemon curry leaf rice

WEEKEND BREAKFAST --- rice porridge with pickles | fruits 
AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- green tea | roasted sunflower seeds
DINNER ---  wine | green soup: basil, green peas, zucchini, spinach, with shaved parmesan and lemon zest | curry leaf and spice whole grain basmati rice | roasted radish | salad: radicchio, red grapefruit, pomegranate, shaved parmesan and roasted hazelnut | duck confit | dd's landslide cake | cognac 














  • the candy house was destroyed by a thunder strike , the chocolate landmass was washed down with cognac. 
  • to get duck confit just right:  2 day salt wrap (punctured surface )  9 hour bake in covered pot in oil ( infused with garlic and thyme)  at 180F.   8 hour cool down in oil.  10 min  hot pan sear before serving. 
  • curry leaf and lemon  rice:  Plenty More by Ottolenghi   (cinnamon, cloves, shaved lemon rind, fresh curry leaves, basmati rice,  lemon juice, butter, white pepper, salt, water)
  • green soup: Plenty by Ottolenghi

WEEKEND BREAKFAST --- coffee | homemade mini scone with cranberry and seeds | grapefruit | apple 
AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- tea | pomegranate 
DINNER --- champaign | cognac | baked Japanese sweet potato fries | spinach, cherry tomato  and tuna salad | steamed eggplant with spicy garlic ginger sauce | stewed chicken and pre-roasted chestnuts in wine, soy with star anise and garlic | parboiled and seasoned okra | tea | homemade chocolate macaron 




















  • passed the year mark

New Year with champagne, caviar, cognac, chocolate

WEEKEND-BREAKFAST --- home-baked  apple scones | Chinese  sweet rice dumplings in fermented sweet rice broth 
DINNER ---  Champagne | caviar, sour scream and avocado on crackers | foie gras and pomegranate on crackers | Beef stew with daikon, carrot and cabbage | sauteed Chinese purple greens | rice | cognac with Valrhona chocolate 












  • homemade apple scones are warm and tasty  
  • the food today is sort of Chinese with French accent

DINNER --- ( for O. and F. )  baked japanese sweet potato fries | steamed shao mai | cava || deep fried spring rolls | seasoned lightly pickled cucumber | sweet and sour lotus root | seasoned roasted peanuts | Kao-fu clay pot |  Chinese noddle stew with vegetables( meng-mian ) | Chinese rice wine || chocolate ice cream | cognac || Su-zhou style dried plum | wu-long tea

Homemade chocolate cake

WEEKEND BREAKFAST --- coffee | orange bread | apple | scallion pancake 
AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- tea | pomegranate 
DINNER --- Champagne | baked Japanese sweet potato fries || fresh persimmon and grated cucumber salad |  simmered tofu duck with roasted red pepper | stir-fried eggplant and green chili with miso | sauteed lotus root |chive flower and chickpea flour pancake |  Shanghai-style fried rice with winter bamboo shoots, winter mushroom and young mustard green | steamed Japanese winter squash with seasoned crushed rice | sauteed spinach with spices | shochu|| homemade nutty chocolate cake | homemade orange ice cream | rum









 
  • 8-dish dinner, the highlight is the nutty chocolate cake with orange ice cream, d.d.'s work.
