Brussels sprouts on the stalk

BREAKFAST

LUNCH --- rice with curried cauliflowers and pan-fried pork chop
AFTERNOON-TEATIME
--- tangerine
DINNER --- curried angel hair potatoes | steamed and pan-fried Brussels sprouts | marinated and seared scallops with green aioli sauce | rice | wine








  • Brussels sprouts on the stalk are quite fresh and sweet.

Sea scallops and Sardines

AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- green tea
DINNER --- fried lotus root chips | seared sea scallops with red curry shallot sauce and green yuzu citrus sauce | maitake mushroom and fried tofu soup | marinated and grilled fresh sardines | sauteed pea shoots | rice | Spanish cava

  • a seafood theme dinner with influence from Spanish and Japanese cuisine. fresh whole sardines were marinated, deboned and flattened, then grilled over open flame.

Scallop ceviche

AFTERNOON-TEATIME

DINNER --- sweet corn fritters | scallop ceviche with cucumber and sweet pepper | sauteed napa cabbage with wood-ear and oyster mushroom | chilled Matsuzaka noodles with dashi sauce | salad of lettuce, fennel and radish | wine




  • the end of a busy week, the start of a busy weekend. scallop took longer than white fish to make into ceviche

Fava beans and scallops

AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- tea
PRE-CONCERT-DINNER --- Persian flat bread with goose liver pate | salad of lettuce, fennel, radish and tomato | pan-seared scallops with leek | sauteed fresh fava beans and spring bamboo shoots with fermented fava bean sauce | mojito




  • fresh fava beans from the local Persian market, they are in season right now thousands of miles away in Shanghai as well.
  • Mahler's magnificent " Das Lied von der Erde " (Song of the Earth) , based on ancient Chinese poems.
