Tempura and Ochazuke in home kitchen

8-14-2020 Fri. 


DINNER --- tempura: shishito pepper, lotus root, eggplant, okra, bitter melon, shiitake mushroom, king mushroom , shiso leaves,  shrimp, baby squid tentacles , with dashi and grated daikon dipping sauce || beer ||  Ochazuke : rice,  umeboshi Japanese pickled plum, pickled kombu,  seaweed,  shiitake, shiso, sweet-soy-braised baby squid tentacles, with green tea  


















  • a feast, busy and fun.

WEEKEND BREAKFAST --- coffee | homemade orange dates bread | grapefruit 
AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- tea 
DINNER --- pan-fried goyza | Japanese eel bowl : rice, parboiled mustard green, green gourd pickles, pickled shiso, pickled seaweed,  teriyake eel, with Japanese new green tea | simmered Japanese squash

Ochazuke, elaborated version

WEEKEND BREAKFAST --- coffee | croissant | bread and cheese | fruit 
AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- tea
DINNER --- ( for family gathering)   fig wrapped in speck ham | seaweed rice crackers ||  wine | seared and broiled New York steak |  Japanese style dinner tray: rice, vegetables in dash | potato and cucumber salad | egg roll | greens, avocado and plums | grilled salmon on shiso |  pickles | rice crackers | dashi seasoned green tea broth | homemade strawberry chocolate layered mochi |  mini cakes | Georgetown cupcakes | tea

Ochazuke, yellow tail

3-28-2013 Thu. chilly, cloudy.  


BREAKFAST --- coffee
LUNCH --- pasta with sofrito sauce
AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- apple
DINNER --- Ochazuke, lightly marinated yellow tail, shrimp cake, king mushroom, pickles, rice with green tea | sauteed Chinese greens | wine 




 
  • the fish is not marinated well enough.

Ochazuke, red snapper, rice and green tea

WEEKEND BREAKFAST --- coffee | grapefruit | Italian bread | cheese 
AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- tea | little mountain nuts
BEFORE-CONCERT-DINNER --- Ochazuke ( steamed rice bowl with lightly pickled red snapper, daikon, nori seaweed, radish sprouts, wasabi and hot green tea ) | wine 









  • red snapper is tender and sweet, cooked slightly by citrus marinade and hot green tea poured over
