seared frozen rib steak with mushroom sauce

5-08-2011 Tue. warm, rain and clouds.  


 BREAKFAST --- water 
 LUNCH --- rice with simmered eggplant and biter melon 
 AFTERNOON-TEATIME --- tea
 DINNER --- ( in tea house) chips and dips | wine || Chinese salt-cured fish, spicy simmered fresh peanuts and smoked tofu | Thai hot & sour shrimp with beech mushroom | pan-fried silken tofu with dashi broth | seasoned rice with gingko seeds and leek | seared frozen rib steak with wine-sauteed mushroom and sweet onion sauce | pan-fried baby artichokes with rioasted red pepper and leek | wine 

 
  • a progressive dinner for Paul's visit, short preparation time, no pictures. the rib steak has stayed in oven a bit too long. two steaks one with prime price and air aged for weeks, the other one half of the price from local farm. the taste difference is not as big as price.
